Despite their vastly different personalities and investigative methods—Fraser often relying on his keen observation skills, tracking abilities, and the assistance of his deaf, lip-reading wolf, Diefenbaker—they form an effective and endearing crime-fighting duo. The series blends police procedural elements with fish-out-of-water comedy, exploring their developing friendship as they navigate the cultural differences between Canadian civility and American grit while solving crimes.
