This competitive reality television series pits two teams of engineers, mechanics, and builders against each other, each given a limited amount of time (typically three days) and a budget to construct a working machine or vehicle from scrap materials found in a junkyard. The teams are challenged to build various contraptions, from hovercrafts and monster trucks to siege engines and amphibious vehicles, often designed to compete in a head-to-head challenge at the end of the build. The show highlights ingenuity, improvisation, teamwork, and the often-hilarious failures and triumphs that come from transforming seemingly useless junk into functional, albeit crude, machines under immense pressure and tight deadlines.
