The Last Vermeer (2019)

Set in the aftermath of World War II, The Last Vermeer tells the true story of Han van Meegeren, a Dutch art dealer who is accused of collaborating with the Nazis by selling them valuable Dutch cultural treasures. Captain Joseph Piller, a Jewish Dutch Resistance fighter now investigating stolen art, is tasked with prosecuting van Meegeren. However, as Piller delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a complex web of deceit and patriotic defiance. Van Meegeren claims the "Vermeer" he sold to the Nazis was, in fact, a forgery he himself created to trick them. Piller must determine if van Meegeren is a cunning traitor or a brilliant artist who outsmarted the enemy, challenging notions of art, authenticity, and patriotism in a nation rebuilding itself.
