They discover they are "sensates," a new breed of human with a psychic connection, able to communicate, feel each other's emotions, and share knowledge and skills across vast distances. While grappling with their newfound abilities and the implications for their individual lives, they are pursued by a mysterious organization called the Biologic Preservation Organization (BPO), led by a powerful sensate named Whispers, who hunts and dissects sensates. The series follows their struggle for survival, their growing understanding of their shared identity, and their fight against those who seek to control or destroy them, all while exploring themes of identity, sexuality, gender, and compassion.
