Along the way, he teams up with an unlikely group of survivors: Angelica, a precocious and violent 10-year-old pyromaniac, and Wesley Fists, a former bully who has embraced a newfound samurai code of honor. As they navigate the lawless, bizarre landscape of the apocalypse, where teenage gangs rule their own bizarre factions, they confront various threats, uncover secrets about the cataclysm, and try to make sense of a world without adults, all while trying to maintain some semblance of their former lives and find Sam.
